What is bioCorneum?

bioCorneum is a silicone gel scar treatment that is designed to reduce the appearance of scars. Scars can be tricky to treat and with so many different scar treatments available on the market, it can be hard choosing which will be effective for you. This bioCorneum review is going to take a closer look at the facts and information to learn more about how this scar treatment works and to see if it’s worth trying out. The manufacturer claims that this silicone gel will soften and flatten raised scars, reduces redness and discoloration and relieve associated itch and discomfort.

Ingredients

  • Octinoxate 7.5%
  • Octisalate 5.0%
  • Octocrylene 10%
  • Oxybenzone 6.0%

Other Ingredients: Polysilicon, Silicon Dioxide, Isopropyl Myristate

Octinoxate is incorporated as a sunscreen. Silicones are polymers that are made of repeating units of siloxane which are a chain of alternating silicon atoms and oxygen atoms that are often combined with carbon or hydrogen. It helps heals scars by protecting the scarred tissues from bacteria, increasing hydration of the stratum corneum and by balancing the expression of growth factors. It increases hydration of the stratum which facilitates regulation of fibroblast production and also reduces collagen production. Certain growth factors stimulate fibroblasts to synthesize more collagen and other growth factors increase the level of collagenases which break down the excess collagen.

Dosage

You should first ensure that the affected area is clean and dry. Apply the gel evenly in a thin layer twice daily, fifteen minutes before sun exposure then allow to dry. Avoid direct contact with eyes, mucous membranes, third-degree burns and open wounds. Discontinue use if irritation occurs. Talk to your doctor before using this treatment if you are pregnant, nursing, have sensitive skin or have a known medical condition.

What is the Cost?

You can purchase bioCorneum directly from the manufacturer and from third-party retailers. One 20 gram bottle costs $69.95 on the manufacturer’s website. They do not offer any discounted bulk purchasing packages.

Manufacturer’s Guarantee

The manufacturer claims to offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee but after a little digging, we found that they only offer 45 days to get a refund. If you want to return a used bottle, a restocking fee will be applied. They will tell you exactly how much is being deducted prior to the return but it will be at least 15% of your purchase.

Our Final Review of bioCorneum

bioCorneum appears to be a promising solution for old and new scars. Its formula dries quickly for convenience and it is backed by a manufacturer’s guarantee which is always reassuring when looking into a product. However, while the manufacturer does offer a money back guarantee, their policy is limited and confusing. It can take months before you see any results from using a scar treatment and 45 days is not a fair amount of time to be able to determine if a product is working for you. Furthermore, all opened bottles will be deducted a minimum of 15% of your purchase for a restocking fee. Considering the high cost per bottle, you have quite a lot to lose. With so many other worthwhile scar treatments available on the market, you are better off choosing one that offers a strong and fair manufacturer’s guarantee and one that is affordably priced.
