What is Kyolic Curcumin?

Kyolic Curcumin is a supplement which contains high levels of antioxidants from turmeric and garlic extract. Antioxidants are actually a very necessary component for healthy living as they reduce the risk of developing certain chronic diseases. We test the formulation of this product and discuss the customer support that this manufacturer offers to determine if it is a quality supplement.

Ingredients

  • Curcumin
  • Phosphatidylcholine
  • Aged garlic bulb extract
  • Gelatin

Curcumin and garlic bulb extract contain high levels of antioxidants. These antioxidants react with substances in the body called free radicals. Free radicals of high-energy molecules that are produced through the cells chemical reactions. They may also be present in foods and pollutants from the environment. When they are at high levels, free radicals react with cell membranes to produce substances that cause inflammation. If this happens in the blood vessels, and if cholesterol is reacted with, there is blood vessel damage which can lead to a clot and a subsequent heart attack or stroke. Free radicals also react with DNA and this can be the first step in the formation of a cancer. Phosphatidylcholine is used in the supplement to replace the parts of the membrane that were reacted with.

Curcumin also acts through cellular receptors to increase levels of a substance called Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor, and this substance decreases the risk of developing depression.

By acting on cellular receptors in the fat cells, curcumin slows down glucose uptake which reduces fat storage.

Gelatin is used as a packing material. Gelatin is derived from animals and is therefore not necessarily vegan or vegetarian friendly.

There are various pricing options depending on how many capsules the customer wants to buy. 50 capsules cost $17.14, 100 capsules cost $32.75 and 150 capsules cost $47.80. There does not appear to be any bulk order discounts or subscription offers available for this product. The price doesn’t include shipping or taxes.

Manufacturer’s Guarantee

The manufacturer is ISO 9001 certified and the products are manufactured according to the Good Manufacturing Practices guidelines. The manufacturer however does not offer any guarantee on their products. This suggests that they are not entirely confident in the effectiveness of their product because they do not wish to risk having to return customer’s money if their product does not work.

Our Final Review of Kyolic Curcumin

This supplement is offered at quite a reasonable price. It also contains a number of well considered ingredients. The problem with this supplement is that the dosage instructions are not comprehensive and this could alter the results that a customer experiences. Despite their accreditation, it is unfortunate the manufacturer does not offer any guarantee on their product which places the customers at risk of purchasing and ineffective product and wasting their money.
