Hi-Q Celebrating 70 Years

What is Hi-Q?

Intelligence tests and quiz games are nothing new, TV has just made them into a fun and exciting way to participate. Delco Hi-Q is the oldest academic quiz competition in the United States, which is about to celebrate its 70th anniversary. The “Hi” stands for high school and the “Q” stands for I.Q. Twenty-one high schools participate in this competition which started in Delaware in 1948. The questions for this competition are based on the content of the high school curriculum as well as also general knowledge that high school students are expected to know. Today, Hi-Q is still going strong and has extended to the states Alabama, Wisconsin, and Washington. The 70th milestone season will be kicking off with a special event featuring celebrities participating in this fun competition.

Mind Sport

A quiz can be referred to as a mind sport. They exercise our brain and they are fun to participate in. They are also a great way to test our knowledge and learn new information. As with any sport, we have to hone our skills which takes practice and we also need to ensure we receive the correct nutrition. Just as you would eat correctly and practice for physical sport so should be the same for mind sport. Quizzes are great for flexing our brain muscles and one very important nutrient we should be consuming to keep our brain healthy and in top-form is omega-3. This is an essential fatty acid that we usually get from eating fish.

But what if you don’t like eating fish? Then you can always reap the amazing benefits by taking a supplement which you can find out more about in this Research Verified Omega-3 review. Omega-3 is known to improve memory and promote the formation of new brain cells.

Using Our Brain Is Fun

Who doesn’t love watching a good game show? Shows such as ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ orJeopardy!’. Families spending fun evenings together eating snacks and ice cream, sitting in front of the TV watching the contestants on Jeopardy! flex their intellectual muscles while shouting answers at our television screens. Something I’m sure many of us look back on our childhoods on, with fondness. This quiz game show has been around for more than 30 years and has won more awards than any other game show including 33 Daytime Emmy Awards. The 34th season has just premiered which means more fun-filled evenings spent showing off our knowledge of current events, history, the arts, popular culture, literature, and science.

This all goes to show that using our brain is fun. We enjoy it. We enjoy watching contestants use their intelligence, skills, and wit to outsmart and outplay each other on game shows. And we try to do the same when shouting out at our screens when we know the answer and when we shake our head in disbelief and annoyance that the contestant on our TV doesn’t. Entertainment and watching TV is not only about sitting there mindlessly following the plot of some series. Your brain can now get a workout too. Just as we focus on keeping our body active and nourished, so should we with our mind. We all know the benefits of eating healthy and staying active for our body, the same holds true for our mind.
