What is IBgard?

This is a detailed review of IBGard. This dietary supplement cannot cure Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS); however, the manufacturers of this supplement claim that this health product is able to effectively treat the symptoms of this condition. Symptoms of IBS include diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, gas, bloating, stomach pain, and irregularity. Therefore, the manufacturer states that the goal of this supplement is dietary management of IBS.

Ingredients

Peppermint oil (90 mg) – Peppermint oil is known to regulate the small intestine’s function. In addition, it helps to normalize digestion and help with absorption of nutrients. In addition, peppermint oil is a source of fiber and protein. However, although peppermint oil is a good anti-inflammatory and soothing ingredient, it is the only active ingredient.

There is no psyllium, turmeric, aloe vera, fennel oil, or ginger root in this formula. Still, the other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, gelatin, methacrylic acid copolymer, hypromellose, methylcellulose, triethyl citrate, polysorbate 80, FDG&C yellow #5 and FD&C green #3. Although gelatin is useful for lining the gut, it is not suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Dosage

The manufacturer does recommend that this supplement be taken under the supervision of a doctor. They suggest the general dosage as one to two capsules, up to three times daily. However, this should be at least 30 minutes before or after eating. You may not take more than eight capsules per day. These capsules should not be chewed, but they may either be taken whole or blended in an appliance.

What is the Cost?

This product is not available on the manufacturer’s own website, but may only be bought through third parties such as Target, Wallmark, Rite Aid Pharmacy, Walgreens and CVS pharmacy. One box of IBgard contains 48 capsules and costs $25.69 online. No discounts are offered.

Manufacturer’s Guarantee

Despite our research, we were unable to find a manufacturer’s guarantee. This is a concern. No guarantee could imply that this supplement is not fully effective.

Our Final Review of IBgard

IBgard is an all-natural product containing an ingredient that can soothe and help deal with inflammation of the gut, thereby reducing the symptoms of IBS. In addition, this product is widely available – with various retailers offering this product: the reviews are generally positive. Still, there are some concerns. Besides the lack of guarantee, this health product does not contain a mix of other ingredients that can improve efficacy of treatment for IBS symptoms. Furthermore, IBS is an ongoing condition. Sufferers will need this type of dietary supplementation over a long period. However, this product is not sold with a range of purchasing options that offer discounts for bulk buying. Bulk sales make a product more cost-effective. Lastly, the issue that this supplement should taken under medical supervision does raise a red flag. This may imply that this product could be harmful, although this supplement has no side effects. With so many other similar types of IBS products on the market, it may be better to opt for another product, in preference to this dietary supplement.
