What is BodyTech Arginine AKG?

BodyTech Arginine AKG is described as a “Nitric Oxide Precursor”. Nitric oxide is widely used in nutritional supplements that are designed to help you to build muscle. L-arginine increases nitric oxide production in the blood vessels, increasing blood flow without raising blood pressure. This results in more blood reaching the muscles and tissues.

Arginine Alpha-ketoglutarate (also known as A-AKG) is a nonessential amino acid that’s necessary when it comes to making nitric oxide in the liver. There are some studies that show that L-Arginine stimulates protein synthesis, which is said to help the body to build muscles, and boost their size, strength and endurance. It has also been shown that by taking 10 to 15g of A-AKG per day, you can raise the body’s insulin level which also apparently aids muscle growth and strength. In fact, there are a few studies that include that when bodybuilders take A-AKG, it enables them to have larger and longer lasting pumps and makes their muscles tighter and stronger.

In addition, because A-AKG helps to break down the by-products of exercise such as ammonia, it is used by athletes to improve their performance. Many athletes believe AAKG not only enables them to build up more lean body mass, it also makes it possible for them to exercise for long with less pain and stiffness.

Our Final Review of BodyTech Arginine AKG

BodyTech Arginine AKG is exactly what it purports to be: a Nitric Oxide Precursor that contains a pretty high dosage of only one active ingredient, L-Arginine Alpha-Ketogutarate… and some calcium.

Because athletes who train intensely often lose a great deal of calcium through their sweat, this can lead to decreased bone density – never a good thing. It is therefor interesting that this formulation supplements the high dosage of the main ingredient with calcium However, whether less than 100mg of calcium daily would be sufficient to counteract the calcium loss incurred through the intensive exercise enabled by the A-AKG, is open to debate.

We were concerned that we could find no information about the purity or provenance of the ingredients, or anything about where and how the product is manufactured. There was also no indication that the manufacturer was supportive of the product as we could not find any reference to a manufacturer’s guarantee.

That said, if you are after a straight-forward A-AKG supplement what is relatively competitively priced, this might be the one for you.
