What Is Essential Eye Cream?
Of all the facial features that could betray your age, the eyes are probably the most worrisome due to the delicate skin surrounding our organs of sights. Natural cosmetic makers have attempted to put thousands of products on the market targeting the eye area, but without the correct ingredients and a minimum of 10% active ingredients specifically, you are all but wasting your effort and money. It is against this backdrop that we review Essential Eye Cream by Royal Honey. It relies on honey as its base to bring anti-aging, moisturizing and antiseptic healing properties.
The main ingredients featured are:
- Honey extract
The manufacturer places emphasis on the fact that it does not simply use any honey, but aged honey, due to the latter being more concentrated with vitamins, minerals, and sugars. This honey is obtained from hives of Master Lim Hyeongmun. The 60-day fermentation process, says the manufacturer, smooths away signs of aging and improves skin texture. Propolis, which is the equivalent of bee glue, is used as the sealant to lock in the moisture while Royal (bee) jelly is used to increase collagen production.
We find a honey-based approach to be problematic based on a lack of clinical trials showing it reduces puffiness, sagging and black circles around the eyes. The studies that have been done on honey show it to be effective in areas such as wound treatment, which is why the manufacturer speaks of its antibacterial effect – but this isn’t a primary need for improving eye beauty. The specific clinically proven ingredients we are looking for which are missing include the likes of flavonoids and alfa-hydroxy acids, passion flower and Alpenrose, and panthenol from vitamin B5. Antioxidant algae and enzymes are the most effective at protecting the skin from free radicals. The kind of synergistic blend involving these ingredients would delay the signs of aging but importantly, reverse existing signs that are there to a marked extent.
How To Use
After toner, apply around your eye area using gentle patting motions. The manufacturer is correct to point out that you should not do anything other than gently pat the eye area, as this will further stretch the delicate skin in this region.
What Is The Cost?
You’ll pay S30 for 30 ml. There are no discounts.
We couldn’t find any evidence of one and it is usually the first sign that a formula is not quite hitting the mark. There is a high parallel between the confidence a manufacturer has in its product and the kind of generous guarantee it is able to offer as a result. The lack of a guarantee not only raises your financial risk but compromises the time and effort you are putting into treating your eye area right away. It is a red flag.
Our Final Review of Essential Eye Cream
As bees play an important role in the environment, it is good to see a product that plays a role in keeping large-scale bee hives active. But unfortunately, this is where our fascination with the product ends. There is a decided lack of clinically proven ingredients such as passion flower, panthenol and more. The really hard-hitting ingredients are to be found in patents of clinically approved inputs, and there are none here compared to the leading research-based natural cosmetic producers that carry five or more patented ingredients in their products. This ensures each clinically approved ingredient works as hard as it possibly can. An example of a patent where particularly like based on the clinical trial results in which a reduction in wrinkle visibility was proved by close to 30% after only a few weeks of use, is Syn-Coll. It delivers a stable form of vitamin C so it goes to work deep below the epidermis where it delivers maximum impact. Without any specialized ingredients such as these in this cream, we were not surprised to receive feedback that while users felt their skin area was hydrated, it simply did not alleviate puffiness and dark circles.
