What is Puritan’s Pride Cranberry Fruit Concentrate with C&E?

Urinary Tract Infections or UTIs are one of the most commonly diagnosed infections in America. It is estimated to affect one out of every two women and for 20% of them, UTIs will be a recurring issue. Because of anatomical differences, these infections mainly affect women but men are also vulnerable to this infection. Antibiotics are commonly prescribed to eliminate UTIs but they are limited in that they can only treat but not prevent future UTIs from occurring. This review is going to examine Puritan’s Pride Cranberry Fruit Concentrate. This supplement is designed to be taken to prevent UTIs from occurring. It contains the unique combination of Cranberry and both Vitamin C and E, which are all believed to have properties that make it harder for UTI causing bacteria to stick together in the urinary tract and manifest into a UTI. This supplement comes available in the form of easy to swallow softgels. The manufacturer claims that this supplement is produced from the finest raw materials under stringent quality control standards.

Ingredients

  • Vitamin C (as Ascorbic Acid) – 40 mg
  • Vitamin E (as dl-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate) – 2.7 mg
  • Cranberry Concentrate (Vaccinium macrocarpon) (fruit) – 168 mg

Other Ingredients: Gelatin, Soybean Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Soy Lecithin, Yellow Beeswax.

Vitamin C is believed to be able to prevent UTIs in a similar way that Cranberry works, by causing the urine to become acidic which through a conversion process, causes the urine to kill UTI causing bacteria. There have been several studies performed with Vitamin E that have demonstrated that it may be effective in preventing UTIs.

Dosage

Puritan’s Pride recommends taking 2 softgels three times daily, preferably after meals.

If you are pregnant, nursing or under medical supervision, they recommend you should consult with your doctor before taking this or any other supplement.

Manufacturer’s Guarantee

Puritan’s Pride will only issue a return on unopened and unused bottles. You can return this product in its original form within the first year of purchase.

Our Final Review of Puritan’s Pride Cranberry Fruit Concentrate with C&E

This product is unique in the way that it contains both Cranberry and Vitamins C and E and that it is available for a relatively fair price. However, if you follow Puritan’s Pride recommended dosage, this will leave you taking six softgels daily. This dosage is exorbitant and suggests that the individual softgel is weak, and institutes a gimmicky implication. We conducted extensive research into this supplement and found that there is not sufficient evidence which concludes that Vitamin C&E can prevent UTIs. Throughout our research, we have encountered UTI products that contain blends and combinations of ingredients that have been clinically researched and have been found to have concrete benefits in preventing UTIs. Taking these factors into consideration, this supplement appears to be gimmicky and we are inclined to inquire about other products that offer upstanding guarantees and have a better list of ingredients that have been proven to help prevent UTIs.
